The Change

In these recent times I've learnt that the change is inevitable.
Whether you like it or not  you can not stop it!
Either you can be part of it or get thrown in the dark corner!
If we look back into history of mankind communicating with each other , the different methods  were evolved at much slower pace.
We used Cave paintings, Signs, Scripts, Sculptures, Pigeon, Horse, Scrolls, News Paper, Telegraph, Telephone, Radio Signal, Television, Internet, WWW, Instant Messaging, Blogging, Social Media.
However the things are changing at exponential rate specially the communication devices used. Day by day our use of mobile communication is changing.
Making a just phone call from your cellphone is probably the least reason you use it.
If  you do not believe then take a break and go check the call history and minutes you've spoken in last day, week or month if you can on your!

Let me run you through imaginative simulation of series of the things you may consider crap which were extremely popular not a long ago.

  • Recall the first ever telephone call that you had in your life! where was it?
  • At a telephone booth? your extremely grumpy neighbor?  or you had the luxury of owning a telephone connection ?
  • You were getting used to it and manufacturers hit you in the face with a fancy cordless telephone.
  • You were comfortable to buy a telephone connection but not enough wealthy enough to enjoy luxury of  talking over it for hours and hours and hours !
  • Well somehow you purchased a cordless telephone to flaunt your middle class status but you could not enjoy it in a long a run, could you ?
  • The reason being your punched in the face again with 'Mobile Phone' that stored hundreds of contact numbers into it and your never had to carry the contact diary with you ever again.
  • one practically can carry the mobile phone everywhere home, office, restaurant and people were graciously looking at that someone who could afford it.
  • somehow you managed to get hands on a pre-owned Mobile phone and joined the Upper Middle class but the destiny had other plans, dint it?
  • Wasn't it a very cruel intention to back-stab your plans at each generation by introducing Color Screen then GPRS then Camera then Music player and Expandable MMC?  in the end all was combined put in a teeny tiny  shaped device that fits in your pocket?
  • It was constantly improvised with a software or hardware in each of the successors.
  • A few failed terribly, few did okay , few had an amazingly overwhelming response.

That amazingly overwhelming One of  the few
was unofficially the official Daddy of mobile phones
"NOKIA"

NOKIA emerged as single company that dominated mobile devices market over a decade and half.
They gave Nokia 3110 the most indestructible mobile phone one can  ever come up with.
They had the series of phones for every segment, every user could find suitable mate for their use.
The Business class Navigator & E-series,  The freakishly Lavishing N-Series, The Gage series for Gamers, Xseries, Cseries, Zseries, Tseries, and to save the sinking ship the Aseries  and Lseries.
They came up with Asha which means "hope" and Lumia which means "light".

The Blackberry already snatched Business class customers!Portable Gaming devices, PSP, Nintendo, snatched Gamers, Sony's Walkman series snatched music enthusiasts from NOKIA. The Premium N-series customers started switching to iPhone.

All Nokia could hope from the Fanboys with lower and upper middle class society But NOKIA pinned down that hope as well by not understanding the language support for all countries especially in Indian subcontinent. SAMSUNG jumped out of no where and grabbed the NOKIA dominant market with uniquely designed phones, relatively lower cost, advertising and introduction to touchscreen devices according to need of people.

NOKIA was the company that could do no wrong until IT DID !

Nothing could do well for them as the emerging politics in the company couldn't see the real threat rise of iPhone Vs Android war
The company came on the verge to become bankrupt with year after of sales and  profit decline.
In the end they sold out mobile division to Microsoft under 4 Year contract and that's it, it was official end of Father of Mobile phones.

So what exactly was the issue that NOKIA dint adopt these decisions ? Was NOKIA so naive to let other companies   dig a grave for itself? Well not at all. To be honest I think you don't know that "Microsoft Sold Nokia to Microsoft". yeah you heard me correct. What how's that even possible ? Well here's an interesting turn of events.

  1. In September 2010, it was announced that Elop would take Nokia's CEO position, replacing Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, and becoming the first non-Finnish director in Nokia's history.
  2. On 11 March 2011 Nokia announced that it had paid Elop a $6 million signing bonus, "compensation for lost income from his prior employer Microsoft," on top of his $1.4 million annual salary.
  3. During Elop's tenure, Nokia's stock price dropped 62%, their mobile phone market share was halved, their smartphone market share fell from 33% to 3%, and the company suffered a cumulative €4.9 billion loss.
  4. February 2011, Elop officially announced the new strategy for Nokia, which included the discontinuation of both of their in-house mobile operating systems, shifting its smartphone strategy to Microsoft's Windows Phone.
  5. The phase-out of Symbian was to be carried out during the following years, expecting it to be finalized by 2016, but actually finished in January 2014, and plans for any MeeGo devices beyond the Nokia N9 were scrapped.
  6. The first Nokia Windows Phone smartphone shipped in November 2011, the Nokia Lumia 800, was made in the form of a device design identically similar (only an additional camera button was added) to the Nokia N9, the first MeeGo mobile.
  7. The N9 enjoyed positive reviews for attractive hardware and a well-designed software experience-- though at launch reviewers noted that a healthy software ecosystem was non-existent and would almost certainly not develop.
  8. However Elop stuck with the Microsoft deal, saying that MeeGo development will not continue even with the N9's success, a move that was widely criticised.
  9. In an interview held late 2012, Elop stated the reason for switching to Windows instead of Android "the single most important word is 'differentiation'. Entering the Android environment late, we knew we would have a hard time differentiating."
  10. However, at the time Nokia had already begun reweighing its options and at Mobile World Congress held in February 2014 Stephen Elop took stage to unveil Nokia's first Android Phone, Nokia X.
  11. On 3 September 2013, it was announced that Microsoft had agreed to buy Nokia's mobile phone and devices business for $7.2 billion and that Elop would stand down as Nokia's CEO to become Executive Vice President of the Microsoft Devices Group business unit.
  12. Controversy arose around Elop receiving a €18.8 million bonus after Nokia sold its mobile phone business to Microsoft and he stepped down as the CEO
  13. In 2014, Elop returned to Microsoft as executive vice president of the Microsoft Devices Group

If I have to  summarize the chaos then it would be
NOKIA was Microsoft’s all time favorite fish, They injected Elope sponsored politics into NOKIA
When they realized they couldn't win unless NOKIA falls apart internally and then this 'sociopath' was introduced.

He was "Trojan Horse" of Microsoft For NOKIA. Ever heard of battle of TROY?
{The Trojan Horse is a tale from the Trojan War about the subterfuge that the Greeks used to enter the independent city of Troy and win the war. In the canonical version, after a fruitless 10-year siege, the Greeks constructed a huge wooden horse, and hid a select force of men inside. The Greeks pretended to sail away, and the Trojans pulled the horse into their city as a victory trophy. That night the Greek force crept out of the horse and opened the gates for the rest of the Greek army, which had sailed back under cover of night. The Greeks entered and destroyed the city of Troy, ending the war. }

  • He sold NOKIA’s Smartphone business to Microsoft.
  • He took away Carl Zeiss and PureView so they don't want NOKIA to be their prime competitor { PureView is NOKIA Developed Camera Technology if combined with Carl Zeiss can beat the shit out of any Camera phones in market at present }
  • If it hadn't been Stephen Elope, NOKIA we knew would have been intact.
  • He shut down Symbian S60 V3 n V5 Anna , Belle OS updates.
  • Employees of MaeMo were forcefully moved to different project.
  • Linux based MeeGo could have been NOKIA’s game changer.
  • Nokia various devices including N8 nd PureView 808 were about to get get MeeGo updates due success of MeeGo on N9
  • This was when android was spreading deep roots in the market. MeeGo could have been a strong competition for buggy android back then. {Thanks to Android for issues like phone overheating , laggy performance heard any of them with symbian ?}
  • He realized it as threat to Windows Phone OS n then discontinued entire OS division by firing Pro Nokia employees.
  • manufacturing of phones was handed over to 3rd party companies that's how they got cheap quality.
  • All they did to purchase a company worth of trillions of dollars into few millions
  • Thus it came to actual end of Daddy of Mobiles NOKIA RIP.
  • NOKIA returned in 2016 but mere as Research and Development company.
  • HMD Global is the company that now owns NOKIA. smartphones would be manufactured by foxconn under HMD Global’s decisions. unlike old times they used to manufacture most on their own.
  • They proved by launching Android tablet NOKIA n1 but even that was just branded under NOKIA, manufactured by foxconn which got terrific reply people liked it.
  • NOKIA 6 was first released in China on January 20, 2017, shortly after announcement. Demand was high, and it was sold out within minutes after receiving over a million registrations
  • On 26 February 2017, at Mobile World Congress 2017, it was announced that Nokia 6 will be available globally along with NOKIA 3310, 5 & 3
  • All the three pure android smartphones NOKIA 3,5,6 have relatively low end specification with an expensive price compared to other established brands
  • With the launch of flagship NOKIA 8 , it has  pinned down the hopes of many many NOKIA fanboys like me.
  • NOKIA 2  is targeted at the lower segments of society with a disgusting price.
  • Newly launched all NOKIA devices have a strong build quality.
  • This is The RISE and  FALL and RISE of DADDY of mobile phones.
  • I sincerely hope not another fall for NOKIA
  • Hence It would be interesting to see the NOKIA journey in 2018 .
  • Well with Microsoft Mobile it went down the hill really bad as Microsoft did not even publish the results of its mobile devices division in its last financial results, with no new devices being released as the company finalized its messy divorce with Nokia.
  • Windows Phone now makes up just 0.3 %of all smartphones sold across the world in the last three months of last year, according to recent Gartner figures.
  • Recent events at Microsoft including Bill Gates admitted in an interview that he uses an Android phone which suggests that Microsoft is aiming shut down & cut the cord with Windows Mobile Phone business.
  • As we  Indians say "नजर लग गई" if superstitions are to believed then yes "नोकिया की हाय लग गई मायक्रोसॉफ्ट को"

A world without Google Services

The blog is incomplete & I will add content to it as I get more precise information that I'm looking for meanwhile feel free to read & give feedback. I read following article :-  https://www.gizchina.com/2020/01/30/huawei-will-not-use-google-services-again-even-if-the-ban-is-lifted/ After reading the article my first reaction to my friend 'Pranay Oswal' who posted the article in the WhatsApp group was this: 🤣🤣🤣 as if they are doing a favor on google I mean seriously, is it a joke to build an ecosystem as big & popular on a global scale to compete with google ? With a lot of struggle it took 15 Years for google to build & get people addicted to their ecosystem; a new player just can't do it. Microsoft offered equivalent services way before google was even a competition still they haven't been able to get the services popularized among their windows PC users. Early 2000s Microsoft had msn. A browser with news & video website that...
